A warm welcome from the Bell Ringers of Holy Trinity, Hurstpierpoint.

We are a small, friendly band of ringers offering a warm welcome to all visitors whether ringers, those wishing to learn to ring, or anyone who would like to visit us in the belfry.

The tower has eight bells with the tenor weighing 12cwt 3qtr 6lb (650kg) in the key of G. More details of the Holy Trinity's bells and their history can be found here. Please use the other navigation buttons at the top of this page to find other details. Hurstpierpoint, in West Sussex (within the Mid-Sussex district) is one of the founding towers of the Sussex County Association of Change Ringers.

We ring on Sundays from 8.30 a.m. for the 9.15 a.m. Family Eucharist. We also have a small band of chimers who man our Ellacombe chiming apparatus, one of the few regularly used examples in the country. They chime at 7.45 a.m. for the 8.00 said Holy Communion service on the first Sunday of each month and for the fortnightly 11.00 a.m. service, as well as for some special Services and events.

Yet another group of people form a handbell ringing band, the church possessing a set of 25 handbells cast by the Whitechapel foundry.

More Information

Over the last couple of years, we have been blessed with real growth in numbers at our relatively new 11am Sunday morning service, and an increase too in the numbers attending the 9.30am service which has been a joy to see. With greater numbers of attendees, there has been a marked increase in busyness between the services, and as a result the time between the 9.30am and 11am services has become inadequate both for set up for the later service and to allow sufficient time for post-service refreshments after the 9.30am.
Therefore, the PCC unanimously agreed on Monday 10th May to alter the Sunday service times from 9th June to 9.15am and 11.15am to alleviate the current challenges. As a consequence, the ringing of the church bells for the earlier service will now run from 8.30am to 9.15am starting 15 minutes earlier than previously. Arrangements for the monthly 8am service remain unchanged.
On behalf of Holy Trinity PCC, I apologise for any inconvenience caused by either the earlier service start times or the earlier commencement of the bell ringing before the 9.15am service. Thank you for your understanding.
Richard
